What is the definition of ‘health’? A question I have often asked myself over the years. Health has always been at the forefront of my life ever since I was a young child. Fascinated by our bodies and how they interact with our environments and the foods we eat. The power of science and nutrition captivated me at a young age, but I never thought I would pursue a career related to either. Full disclosure…I wanted to become a teacher which was my initial career goal. I have always felt a great sense of reward and fulfilment when working with children and youth. I began to realize their phenomenal potential as young human beings in society.

Nutrition is an interest/curiosity that sparked during my first year of university. I was taking an introductory nutrition course and all of a sudden…I was hooked! There is something about the roles that both nutrition and food play in our health that has me so intrigued. Food provides us with so much more than just nourishment. Food is symbol of social connection, togetherness, cultural identity, and celebration. I dedicated a total of 9 years of my life to studying nutrition, dietetics, health, and food. It is safe to say that becoming a dietitian was a dream career goal and it brings me immense gratitude that it allows me to support individuals in optimizing their health and achieving their health-related goals.

I aim to gear my practice towards inclusivity, diversity, and sustainability. I am a firm believer in adopting “all foods fit” and “everything in moderation” mindsets. Restricting ourselves of certain foods and attempting unsustainable diets or eating patterns can do more harm than good. It is important that my approach to counselling clients is based on the foundation of non-diet principles, mindful eating, and building long-term sustainable habits. I am open to working with a variety of clients, however I do specialize in pediatric nutrition (failure to thrive, complex medical issues, reflux, introduction to solids, oral feeding aversions, etc.), men’s health & wellness, and chronic disease management (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc.). As someone who comes from a South Asian background, I wholeheartedly believe in embracing cultural foods as part of a healthy and balanced diet. I aim to support my clients in ensuring they feel empowered to accept and include their cultural identity in nourishing their bodies and optimizing their health. If it sounds like working together would be a good fit for you, book a free discovery call with me!
