Michelle Meier
Social Worker Providing Services Online, MSW, BSW, BA
In the past I experienced depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I struggled to have a good relationship with food and my body. I reached a point where I was tired of feeling the way I did and turned towards academic research which emphasized the importance of nutrition and exercise. This is where my journey began to learn to love myself and repair my relationship with food. I am thankful I did and now I am passionate about using my skills, education, and life experience to help others who want to repair their relationship with themselves. I am honoured and proud to offer my social work services online as it improves access to those that cannot attend in-person sessions.
My approach is client-centered and strengths-based. I believe in working collaboratively with clients to help them uncover their innate wellness and discover helpful ways to cope with the normal and extraordinary challenges of life. When you work with me, you can expect empathy, compassion, and a commitment to work through the therapy process at your own pace. I hope to provide you with guidance and support to help you settle more comfortably within the present moment and feel a greater sense of purpose in life. All my social work services are provided online through a secure platform.
I enjoy working with individuals around anxiety, women’s issues, depression, self-esteem, and relationships. In my sessions, I like to draw from CBT, DBT, Narrative, and ACT. Furthermore, I like to incorporate techniques of mindfulness and the mind-body connection I have developed through my Yoga practice (Certified Instructor).Â
I strive to meet clients on a human level, knowing that connection, where people feel accepted will establish the foundation for our work together. I consider it to be a great privilege to be the person you choose to share your story with and look forward to working together to support and challenge you to grow in new and meaningful ways.
